Haverhill – Shirley M. (Healey) Kern, 93, passed away January 4, 2022 at her home with her loving family by her side.

Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Aldea (Seguin) Healey. Raised in Lawrence, she attended Lawrence schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School, Class of 1946. She retired from Digital Corp in 1990, having worked as a buyer in the purchasing department there and at several other electronics firms over the years.  She went on to work as a duty aide at the Thompson School in N. Andover, retiring from there in 2019 at the age of 91.  Shirley loved working with the students and staff there and considered them her second family. She loved the beach, and was equally happy at Hampton, Salisbury, or St. Thomas.  Shirley was devoted to her family and was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed by all her family and friends.

Shirley is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen Sullivan and her husband Daniel of Kingston, NH; Donna DiNinno and her husband Nicholas of Leominster; a sister, Pearl Ferris of Reading; and grandchildren, Timothy Sullivan and his wife Callan of Lee, NH, Ryan Sullivan and his wife Morgan of Durham, NH, Nicholas DiNinno III and his wife Mito Takeshita of Concord and Christina Dubrule and her husband Eric of Leominster.  She was thrilled to be “Great Nana” to her eight great -grandchildren.  The family would like to thank Carol Carifio, for her devoted friendship, and Maureen Kennedy RN of Merrimack Valley Hospice, for her loving care.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Sunday, January 9 from 2:00PM until 5:00PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill.     Kathy and Donna,and family, My deepest Condolense for the lost of your mother. Shirley was a deer friend of mine and I had a lot of wonderful happy memories with her. I just found this out as I was walking my dog and I felt something was not right walking by your mom’s house. I wish I new earlier I would have attended her mass.
