Socrates Yannakoureas, 92, husband of Potoula (Stamateas) Yannakoureas, passed away May 22, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Exochori, Greece, he was the son of the late Peter and Pollyxeni Yannakoureas. Raised and educated in Greece, he came to the United States over 60 years ago. He established his painting business, SY Painters of Haverhill, and worked for many years in the painting industry. With his wife Potoula, he often travelled back to Greece to visit family. Known for his big heart, always ready to help anyone in need, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. Socrates will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his loving wife Potoula, he is survived by his children, Despina Alekou and her husband Costa of Haverhill; Peter Yannakoureas and his wife Athena of Haverhill; Pollyxeni Anastasiades and her husband Billy of Haverhill; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

If the legacy of a man that was so strong that had touched the lives of so many people who knew him, then a big piece of Socrates Yannakoureas will live on in all of you.
