SALISBURY, MA – Thomas A. Gagne, 68, of Salisbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 3rd at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill.
Thomas was born in Haverhill on June 13, 1956, the son of John and Elizabeth “Betty” (Garvey) Gagne. He was a graduate and President of his class at Haverhill High School, Class of 1974 and then went on to attend UNH and Merrimack College. He was a longtime Haverhill resident and business owner of Tek Coating. Tom’s happiest days were those spent with his devoted wife of 47 years, embarking on countless adventures with their boys and families along with lifelong friends by their side. His eight grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “Grank” were a constant source of immense joy. Tom always enjoyed having a good time, and whenever there was an opportunity to tell, or retell, a good tale he was the first to volunteer. Throughout his life, Tom made a significant impact, whether through his business endeavors, being a friend to all or his recent role these past 6 and a half years as an advocate for early cancer detection, reminding people to get their butts checked! Tom faced cancer with bravery and grace. His legacy is marked by his trailblazing spirit and his unwavering commitment to saving lives through sharing his own story – you will always find him “where the music meets the ocean.”
Thomas is survived by his loving wife Debra (Lavalley) Gagne of Salisbury, sons Joshua and his wife Allison (Pistone) Gagne of Haverhill, Adam and his wife Katelyn (Rice) Gagne of Westford, and Philip and his wife Amanda (Montalto) Gagne of Bradford. He also leaves behind his sister Lisa Gagne-Martin and her husband Paul of Exeter, NH; and grandchildren Troy, Brooke, Morgan, Max, Grant, Quinn, Tyler and Lorelai. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Cynthia (Gagne) Bellows and Alexis Gagne-Wall, and best friend and father figure Eugene (Papa Gino) Bussiere.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 7 at 12PM at Sacred Hearts Parish, 165 S Main Street, Haverhill. Burial is private. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Charlie Penta Scholarship Fund; make checks payable to the Charlie Penta Scholarship Fund, and mail c/o Sean Gleason, 33 Cedarcrest Lane, Bradford, MA 01835 or VENMO @CharliePenta45. Tom is quite the guy, always there for anyone and everyone. A pleasure to know and to talk to. He made his recent health problem into a campaign to make the rest of us aware to help ourselves.
He will be sadly missed by all and always remembered, one of a kind. May he RIP.
