Tomas “Tabo” Taveras September 8, 1936 - October 12, 2019

Haverhill – Tomas “Tabo” Taveras, 83, husband of Tomasina (Tavadez) Taveras, passed away suddenly at his home with his loving family by his side on October 12, 2019.

Born in Bonao, Dominican Republic, he was the son of the late Felipe and Emiliana (Santos) Taveras. Raised and educated in the Dominican Republic, he came to the United States in the early 1970’s, settling in New York City. While in New York, he worked at various restaurants for many years. In 1989 he moved to Haverhill, working at Maria’s Restaurant and Springhill Farm. Tabo enjoyed playing Dominos and socializing with friends and neighbors every day. He travelled back to the Dominican Republic to visit family and friends throughout the years. Known for his quiet and simple spirit, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, Tomasina, he is survived by his children, Maria Taveras of Haverhill; Tomas Taveras, Jr. and his partner Terri Blinn Warren of Haverhill; his stepdaughters, Denisse Vargas Tavarez, Arianny Espino Tavarez and Carolina Espino Tavarez, all of Bonao, Dominican Republic; his sisters, Juana Pena of New York City; Mariana Garcia of New York City and Maria Rufina Santos of PA; four grandchildren, Malik Taveras, Isabella Diaz, Lia Maria Lopez Espino and Mirando Elizabeth Vargas; his former wife, Ramona Taveras of Haverhill; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, October 19 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main Street, Haverhill.
