Haverhill – Pauline G. (Sable) Lane, 88, of the Bradford section of Haverhill, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2014 at the Penacook Place Nursing Home surrounded by her family. Born in Haverhill, February 4, 1926, she was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1943. She subsequently was employed by the former Western Electric Company, Haverhill Water Department, and the northern Essex District Court House in Haverhill as an assistant in the Adult Probation Department until her retirement in 1990.Pauline was an active member of Sacred Hearts parish in Bradford and the Catholic Daughters of America #436 Court St. James for many years. She and her husband John were active supporters of the parish and the Archdiocese as well as Boston Children’s Hospital, Salvation Army, Alzheimer’s Association, as well as many other worthy institutions. She was known by family and friends as having a kind and gentle spirit.Pauline was a woman who had a thirst for gaining knowledge in many areas. She was always willing to share this knowledge with others and encouraged this quest for learning in her family and with all she knew. She enjoyed travel and the arts. Experiences she shared and memories made with family and friends will be cherished forever in their hearts.She leaves behind her beloved husband of sixty five years, John P. Lane, and their son, Dr. Gary M. Lane, of Bradford a sister, Helen Otis and her husband, Ray, of Methuen, two brothers, Robert Sable and his wife, Anne, of North Andover, and William Sable, of Haverhill. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.The lane family would like to extend their gratitude to the entire staff at Penacook Place for their outstanding care of Pauline during her stay with them.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Monday morning from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 PM in Sacred Hearts Church, South Main St., Bradford. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Primrose St. Haverhill. Memorial donations may be made in her name to Penacook Place Patient Activities Fund, 150 Water St. Haverhill, MA 01830.
