Richard J. Noel, 81, of Hampton, NH, formerly of Haverhill, died Sunday, April 17, at his home after a lengthy illness.Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late, Martin E. and Lillian (Fredette) Noel. He attended Haverhill public schools and was a Graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1949. A Korean War Veteran, Richard enlisted into the United States Army where he would proudly serve and gain experience in the nursing field. After an honorable discharge, Mr. Noel continued his education at Merrimack College, receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Social Services.Mr. Noel was employed as an Orderly at the former Hale Hospital in Haverhill before moving into Social Services for the State of Massachusetts. He would spend most of his career working in the Haverhill office of transitional assistance, retiring in 1995.A man blessed with a strong faith, he was involved deeply in the church and the community of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal in Hampton, NH.He leaves nieces and nephews, dear friends and caregivers, including, Donna Murphy, of Lakeville, MA, Jonathan McCoy, of Portsmouth, NH, and David and Elaine Hagen, of Hampton, NH.Friends and family are respectfully invited to call on Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 PM at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Rd. Hampton, NH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church. A mercy meal will follow at the church with burial then to follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Salem St., located in the Bradford section of Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the St. Vincent DePaul Society, or Sacred Heart School, 289 Lafayette Rd. Hampton, NH. 03842. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill.
