Roland Benjamin Thorne Sr., 49, of Haverhill, passed away on Friday, March 2, 2012, at the Shattuck Hospital in Boston after a brief illness.Born in Lafayette, Indiana, on October 13, 1962, he was the son of the late Stanley Thorne and Carolyn J. (McCaslin) Lagasse. Moving to Massachusetts as a child, he was raised in Lawrence. Roland spent most of his life on the road working as a Carnival Operator for the Lagasse Carnival Company and towards the later part of his life, Roland worked as a chef, employed by various different restaurants throughout the Merrimack Valley Area until becoming ill several months ago.Roland is survived by his son, Roland B. Thorne Jr. of Haverhill, two daughters, Desiree N. Thorne-Richard of Haverhill and Alicia M. Powers of Lawrence, a sister, Katrina M. Thorne of Haverhill, a half sister, Leeanna Hutchings of Maine, and three grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his brother, John C. Hutchings, and two sisters, Lena Hutchings and Victoria L. Lagasse.Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon, March 9, 2012, at 1 PM in the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (Rte 125) Haverhill. Calling hours will take place prior to the service from 12 until 1 PM. Burial services will be private.
