Haverhill – Warren C. Jardine, 91 former Deputy Fire Chief of Haverhill passed away Friday April 20 at the High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill surrounded by his loving family.Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late, Harry and Ida J. (Travis) Jardine. Raised and educated in Haverhill, he attended Haverhill public schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, Class of 1945. Shortly after graduation he enlisted into the United States Navy and would honorably serve his country in both WWII and Korea. After his service he continued his education and earned his degree in fire science.He began his career with the in the Haverhill Fire Department and would serve the city he loved with honor and integrity for four decades, retiring in 1991 as the Deputy Fire Chief and head of fire prevention. While in the department, he spearheaded the “Haverhill Heart Saver Program” training over 11,000 people for C.P.R. during his tenure. He was well-respected in the firefighting community by his superior officers and those who worked for him. He was a member of the Saggahew Lodge, A.F. & A.M. Haverhill for sixty years.A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was the widower of Norma E. (St. Onge) Jardine with whom he spent sixty-six years with until her passing in 2015. He was blessed with a long and healthy retirement, enjoying winters in Bradenton, Florida and summers at York Beach, Maine. Warren was very active and had the energy of men half his age. Always a gentleman, he had a great sense of humor he loved socializing and could be found at local places downtown meeting with friends and making new ones. He loved his family and cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren.He is survived by his two daughters, Pamela Desando of Haverhill and Pat Jardine and her husband, John “Jack” Davis, of Groveland a son, James C. Jardine, of Andover three grandchildren, Michael Davis, of Groveland and Tamara and Jaden Jardine, of Andover a sister, Gweneth A.E. Hannon, of Haverhill and several nieces and nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by firstborn child, Jill Caron Jardine and his brother and sister in law, Charles P. and Ruth Jardine.Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home 486 Main St. Haverhill. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday morning at 10:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church, 346 Broadway, Haverhill. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Linwood Cemetery, Mill St. Haverhill.
